What To Do In Athens Layover Tour
What To Do In Athens
1st Suggestion: Athens Sightseeing
You can have a great taste of Athens. During the day, you’ll visit the sacred Rock of the Acropolis, the Parthenon, admire the remains of Zeus’s Temple, visit the modern Olympic, Panathenaic or “Kalimarmaro” stadium, and then pass through the National Gardens into the heart of the city. You will also see the Syntagma Square and witness the hourly change of the guards, in front of the Greek Parliament. During the tour you will also see the famous trilogy of neoclassical architecture, the National Library, the Academy of Arts and Sciences and the first University of Athens. Afterwards, we will head uptown to Kolonaki, where elite fashion and couture shops, meet with beautiful sidewalk cafes. Later we will go downtown to the vibrant fish and meat market, before we head to Monastiraki Square. Finally, if time and traffic permits, you will witness a breathtaking view of everything you’ve seen so far, from the highest point of the city, the Lycabettus Hill! We are certain you will enjoy your tour!
2nd Suggestion: Cape Sounion and Temple of Poseidon
A wonderful seaside tour of the Athens coast on the way to Cape Sounion to visit the temple of Poseidon. Departing from Athens, we will drive along the scenic coastal road which offers a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf, passing through some of Athens most beautiful suburbs (Palaion Faliron, Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza), all the way to Cape Sounion where you will admire the 5th century B.C. Temple of Poseidon. The breathtaking panoramic view from the temple, is so amazing that on a clear day you can see at least seven islands. The Temple of Poseidon, the Acropolis of Athens and the temple of Afaia Athena at Aegina, makes an isosceles triangle! On our way back, we can stop at a traditional Greek tavern for fresh fish, right above the sea!
