Delphi & Meteora private tour
1st day tour itinerary: Athens, Delphi
Depart from Athens we will drive through the national road to Thieves, Levadia, Distomo, village of Stiri (where Osios Lukas was born) and visit the 11th century monastery that it is situated on a slope, which overlooks a beautiful valley. Then drive towards to the beautiful village of Arachova (snow ski center) wonderful scenic drive through mountains and fertile valleys we will visit ancient Delphi (The oracle, the center of the world), museum and the stadium. Afterwards drive to the modern village of Delphi we will stop at a traditional Greek restaurant for lunch and in the afternoon we cross the famous Parnassos mountain, traditional local villages, Lamia (the capital of the central Greece) and continue through Karditsa, Trikala and late afternoon we reach the beautiful, scenic village of Kastraki (overnight) where METEORA located.
2nd day tour itinerary: Meteora, Athens
Early in the morning we will visit the monasteries of Meteora, The Holy Monastery of Great Meteoron, It is the biggest of the Meteorite monasteries, The Holy Monastery of Varlaam the second biggest after the Great Meteoro, The Holy Monastery of St. Stephen, it is one of the most attainable as we don’t have to cope with innumerable stairs to reach it. The Monastery of Holy Trinity that is the most difficult to reach, The Holy Monastery of St. Nicholas Anapausas, It is the first to meet on our way from Kastraki to Meteora, The Holy Monastery of Rousanou, that it is dedicated to The Transfiguration but honored to Saint Barbara. Afterwards we will visit a typical Greek tavern in village of Kalampaka. On the way back we will stop at Thermopylae, the place that took place the most famous battle in human history, the battle between the King of Sparta Leonidas who defend with his 300 soldiers against the biggest army in the word at time “the Persians” afterwards we will drive back to Athens. You will never forget this outstanding experience!
